Toddlers and kittens...

anyone have any experience/ recommendations? We are thinking about taking a kitten from some friends and I'm a little nervous about 2yo DD. She can be rough.

DD carried our kitten around. we just had to teach her how to hold the kitten.

My son is 2 1/2 and we got a kitten almost 2 months ago. He does good with her but we do have to watch him as he does not know how to hold her. A lot of telling him to let her go or leave her alone but we also had 2 other cats to begin with. Just expect a lot of her wanting to hold and touch the kitten.

It kind of depends on the cat. We have a generally very patient one that usually lets DS play with him. But twice he has scratched DS (once on the face), because DS was too rough. Our most patient cat will tolerate all sorts of love - the most he has ever done to anyone is hiss. Typically, though, he runs off if he doesn't want to be "loved" on. Our 3rd cat will let DS pet her occasionally, but generally just stays out of his reach.

Just be prepared to do a lot of supervising and teaching "be gentle" until cat and baby get used to each other.

I dont want to cause any problems- When my dd was almost two I think? She stumbled and fell backwards into a sitting position and sat on and unfortunately killed a kitten we had.

Just requires you to be extra diligent on teaching your LO how to handle the kitten. We just got a kitten a week ago and Maddy has been fantastic with her.
