Agave isn't what it's cracked up to be.
I just wanted to put this out there and inform you all. Until fairly recently, I was all enthusiastic about agave syrup/nectar, thinking it was so wonderful and healthy and stuff -- the very opposite of HFCS. Unfortunately, that's all a myth, and agave is way more like HFCS than you'd think. In fact, in some ways, it's worse. Read this article for more info: http://www.foodrenegade.com/agave-nectar-good-or-bad/. Sorry to be a killjoy, but it's good info to know.

Re: Agave isn't what it's cracked up to be.
Thanks for the info... I keep coming across articles about it not being so great... I did buy it recently to try it out since it was mentioned on a lot of seemingly healthy recipes, but then started reading stuff like this about how apparently it is not so great after all. I plan on sticking with honey & maple syrup or just fruit for sweetening, for now :)

I never believed it could so be amazing. Sweet is sweet after all and sweets are not good for ya.
I do like using it for my tea though, it dissolves so easily and I don't feel I need to use a lot of it.. |

I have read those articles also. I called some manufacturers, as my DH runs a health food store. I have found that there is a great variety in processing- so you need to ask questions of each company.

Good to know, I am working on training myself to like stevia. It just tastes like sweet n low to me though.

We have also used the blue and white organic agave...which we thought was so yummy on pancakes/etc.! |
