school lunchbox ideas!

Its time for Kindergarden at my house and Im really wanting to make it a habit to send lunch with my daughter. I have an insulated lunchbox for her and recently purchased an insulated thermos food jar, but im having a hard time coming up with lunch ideas that are healthy and inexpensive. care to share some ideas???

my son is very limited on what he will eat for lunch but here ya go.

He likes peanut butter sandwiches, peanut butter rollups (pb on tortilla) or cream cheese roll ups.

he usually gets something crunchy like sun chips pita chips or bagel chips

the rest in rotations carrots celery apples grapes with hummus for dipping carrots and celery

you could do cheese cubes string cheese or any other veggies and or fruits

small salads with dressing on the side

in thermos you could do leftover pasta mac cheese soup stews if your kiddo will do leftovers

Are you on Pinterest? There's are endless ideas for kids lunches on there. In case you aren't, I'll share my favorite links. :goodvibes:

I love the idea of Bento boxes. I'm going to get one for DD when she starts K next year. I think she'll think they are fun.

I wish Pinterest had been around when I was a kid. I ate a mustard and bologna sandwich every single day of school from K through 5th grade. :yuck:

For preschool DD takes turkey lunchmeat (not super-cheap, but Target has the best price, so I stock up there and freeze it) or leftover chicken, a fruit (fresh, dried, or freeze-dried), a veggie (like leftover peas) or a second fruit, and an extra something, like crackers.

DD won't eat bread or most cheese, and her preschool is completely nut-free, so there are things you could pack that I can't. :)
