labor in contacts vs. glasses
What's your preference? I can only see a foot in front of me without lenses. I'd like to be able to see during labor, I just don't know which option would be more comfortable. I'm planning a home water birth. Any suggestions one way or the other?

With DS I wore glasses and ended up taking them off because I got sweaty. I ended up not having them near me when he was born, which made it interesting when I was asked to announce gender.
I wore contacts with DD and much preferred it. I have quick labors so far, so I don't know if I would feel differently if they were lengthy. |
I wore my glasses with both kids. I prefer my contacts but toward the end of each pregnancy my eyes couldnt handle my contacts. Plus my eyes get super dry so I was worried about being uncomfortable. I ended up napping for a little while during labor and would have hated to wake up in contacts.
I would prefer to wear neither and just be able to see...but alas, that is not an option. :giggle2: Amanda :). Blaming my phone for typos and crap. |
Re: labor in contacts vs. glasses
I also can't see more than a foot in front of my face and wore contacts during labor both times. I honestly can't imagine having my glasses on, there were times I was laying on my side, pressing my face into DH or a pillow, covering my eyes with my hands, etc., glasses definitely would have gotten in the way!

Contacts. But bring some contact rewetting solution with you, in case you have a long labor or your eyes get dry.

Contacts! Cannot stand my glasses while in labor!

I can see okay without my glasses, so I usually just take them off. If I couldn't see well enough without them, i would definitely put contacts in and keep some clear eyes on hand.

Blind as a bat here. I always wear my contacts.

I wore contacts for both c sections
