When did you put your child in a front faceing car seat & size question

When did you change to a front faceing car seat for your child? And also can anyone who has a small car tell me what front facing one fits best in the back of your car. I have a Benz sports car so it's pretty cramped back their now with the peg perego seat.

My son just turned two and i really have no plans of flipping him anytime soon, his seat will hold him safely rearfacing til 40 lbs, he is only at 27lbs so far lol. Knowing what i know about the extreme difference in safety between rf'ing and ff'ing i couldnt in good conscience flip him before i had a *real* reason to or he outgrew the carseats limits. HTH!

DS is 2.5, 39" and almost 40 lbs and won't be FF until he can't fit in his seat RFing anymore. He's still got 5 pounds and quite a few inches before the seat's outgrown. :)

5 and three quarters. My youngest is also small and will hopefully rf as long. We use Britax Marathon 70s.

We turned him at 4 years 11 months. At his 5 year check up he weighed 33 pounds and is 39 1/4 inches. So his seat was not outgrown. We do not have a/c in out vehicle and keeping him cool enough rf was a problem. So we turned him. He rides in Britax boulevard 70 cs

DS is 2 years 4 months and won't be turning around any time soon. Here is some great information on why rear facing is so important: http://www.car-safety.org/rearface.html and here is a great video that illustrates it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sssIsceKd6U

Infant seats take up more front to back room than many of the convertible seats out there when they're used in the rear facing position. The Britax convertibles, Graco MyRide, Graco Size4me70, Safety 1st Guide 65, Maxi Cosi Pria, and the First Years True Fit are all seats that take up less front to back room when rear facing and can fit in very small cars.

Is your baby in the infant seat or the Peg Perego convertible? Oftentimes a convertible seat will take up less space because it doesn't have to be reclined like for a newborn. But it depends on the car seat. If you want to post your LO's height and weight, we might be able to recommend a seat that will fit both rear and forward facing.

My daughter will be two in a few days and I have no plans to turn her any time soon. I drive a Honda Civic so not the roomiest car. She weighs 30 lbs and is 35" tall.
