i know you said you never actually used them, but by feel would you say the DRs are the same quality and thickness as the GMDs? i'm not familiar with them.

I would say the DR are definitely similar. They are unbleached, though, so they are a little bit softer. Here are the descriptions if you want to compare side-by-side:
