Re: How much did it cost you to give birth?
My first child was cover by 3 different insurances and out of pocket we paid $11,000. The total cost of the hospital stay only was over $75,000 due to many complications.

Re: How much did it cost you to give birth?
Between 2-3000 for each of my 4 home births. Many years ago I had my first in hospital and it was around 10,000 for a complication free, no intervention delivery where we left the next day.

Re: How much did it cost you to give birth?
With my first I worked for the hospital and paid maybe $400 for an over $35,000 birth (c/s, extended stay, etc). For my med-free VBACs we had no insurance and paid out of pocket, the OB/MW was $3000 and the hospital was $4400. We ended up getting $400 back from the hospital b/c I opted out of a few things, so right at $7000. Oh, and that was with a 55% discount with the hospital b/c we paid upfront.

Re: How much did it cost you to give birth?
First (5 years ago) was $250 for the hospital stay. That was it.
Second (due in December) will be a $1,000 deductible (half will be reimbursed by my company, but we still have to pay 1k upfront) and then, if it goes smoothly, everything else will be covered. |
Re: How much did it cost you to give birth?
$2,600 for my first home birth, $1,400 for my second homebirth (I switched at 36 weeks.)

Re: How much did it cost you to give birth?
$2500 global fee to my OB covering prenatal care, delivery, and my pp visit, then $8K to the hospital for my 3-day stay, and baby's bills were around $2K.
ETA: These are figures of actual charges since we had no insurance. |
Re: How much did it cost you to give birth?
We paid around $1,000 out of pocket. Once I met my deductable insurance covered 90%.

Re: How much did it cost you to give birth?
$2000 out of pocket from my first visit at 8 weeks through delivery and post partum. I saw a maternal fetal medicine specialist 3 or 4 times and had 4 ultrasounds. I stayed in the hospital 2 nights but had a natural birth attended by a midwife without medical interventions. Myinsurance covered 80% after deductable of $150.
