Considering cap, diaphragm, or Paragard...
I had a Paragard IUD between DD1 and 2 and I was happy with it but I no longer have insurance and Planned Parenthood website says it costs $500-$1000! I am not excited about paying that much but it would be better than an unexpected pregnancy. Have you used a diaphragm or cervical cap? What was your experience with it? I know I can find my cervix and would be able to get it in there but if we have spontaneous sex I am afraid it will ruin the moment, like putting on a condom. Also worried if I am doing it in a hurry I could get it placed incorrectly and end up with an unplanned pregnancy. I do NOT want anything hormonal either. Suggestions???

I am thinking of Paragaurd afte4r this one because 500 for you is like 50 a year for 10 years. I can't reach my cervix myself for the cap and I don't know much on diaphragms. I would think like you on if in hurry cap or diaphragms not placed right something could happen or ruin the mood. Hope others can give you input too.

I adore my cervical cap. I've had it 3 years and in combination with charting is perfect for us. :)

My 4 year old was our cervical cap baby. ;-)

I was in a different stage of life though. I has been a virgin up until using it, started using it on my honeymoon and went through three cycles before I got pregnant. I'm not sure why it took us so long... Lol. Our first time we used it, it ripped the condom off my DH and popped off sideways. It sat in there like that overnight until the next morning when it slid out with a VERY unsexy *plop* in the toilet. You should have seen us looking for that condom though. Bahahhaa. "what do you mean you can't find it, it was on your penis!?!?"

Yay for virgin weddings.

Seriously though, you could go get fitted for one and see how you like it. If you struggle with the fitting, then those first few uses will be awkward. But a combination of charting and the cap could help you get comfortable enough to use it during fertile windows? You can put it on earlier in the day and leave it in overnight.
