Green tomatos
 

I have green tomato coming out of my ears. Is there an easy way to get them to turn red or a good way to use them up? Dh doesn't really care for fried green tomatoes

If you put them in a paper bag with a banana they will ripen pretty quickly.

You can make relish or pickled green tomatoes

I've always just put them in a window sill. I have some on almost every window of my house right now...they are ripening wonderfully.

Ditto! DH told me that it's supposed to freeze tomorrow night and that he will be picking all the tomatoes tomorrow.

My mom made green tomato bread which was like zucchini bread. It was DELICIOUS!!!

Any recipes for the relish, pickled tomatoes, or green tomato bread? Dh picked all the tomatoes this afternoon and there are two boxes full plus one huge bowl full. I know he likes gardening but it drives me nuts having to prep all this stuff. We also have squash, zuchinni, kolrabi, green peppers, and rhubarb coming out our ears. I've frozen some stuff and we've been eating squash or zuchinni almost every evening. I'm waiting to have gall bladder surgery so I can't eat anything fried.

We pickle our tomatoes (we never let them ripen) and use them on pizza-they are AMAZING!

Don't make pickled green tomatoes. My mom & I did a batch last week and it was totally a waste of vinegar & salt (and dill & jalapenos). Completely inedible. :yuck:
