no-poo and dyed hair?

I have been no-poo (baking soda/acv) for 1 1/2 yrs. Last night I dyed 1/2 my hair pink. I used a teeny bit of shampoo on my hair to get the bleach out, but after I dyed it, I just rinsed. So...can I just do bs/acv on my hair? Will the vinegar do anything funny to the color? TIA for any info you have! :goodvibes:

i stopped dying my hair when i went no poo because i figured the BS would scrub out the red. i dye my hair now and use a natural shampoo bar instead http://www.artfire.com/ext/shop/stud...en/1/7/25798//

No advice, but post a picture of your pulverized lemon and pink hair. ;)

I think the bs will strip out the color.

thanx everyone! I don't want to use shampoo after so long, but maybe the shampoo bar or dr. bonners.

not sure I like it anyway bc I couldn't get my hair any lighter than brassy copper and then this is how the color turned out. I just did the front, long part

"only" for you, my dear, here is the pic of my unstyled mess

and my lemons (not for my hair!) lol

I love your hair, and your freckles, and your pulverized lemons.

 you jul!

I'm not sure about the color... I wonder if it would depend on how you colored the hair?
This mama's article about no-pooing is often the "go to" linked when people start talking or asking it. I've emailed back and forth with her a few times, she's a really sweet mama. Maybe email her and ask?

Baking soda acts as a clarifier. I use it on my clients hair when it absorbs too much color. I would recommend minimizing the amount of cleanser you use on your hair for a while. My stylist even told me to mix a little shampoo and conditioner together.

Re: no-poo and dyed hair?

If I'm remembering correctly, red pigments are the most difficult to get to penetrate your hair, anyway, & the baking soda does strip it, so presumably it won't stay vibrant for as long as you'd like.

I did use a shampoo bar for a while & liked it very much...I have a local place that does a really nice job with natural soaps & personal care supplies. I used the pinetar & nettle bar for a while to help w/ my psoriasis; the only reason I stopped was b/c I ran out & had some bs & acv in the house. I stopped coloring my hair when I went no-poo, though, so I don't have feedback from that perspective...it just seemed that hair dye was more harsh & unnatural than the sulfates in my shampoo & silicones in my conditioner, so it just didn't make sense, KWIM?
