I messed up on my facings somehow.

I did something wrong with my neck facings and I can't figure it out. I changed the zipper to zip up the back instead of up the front, so then I took the front facing piece (which would have originally had an opening) and I eliminated the seam allowance and cut it on the fold, and then the back facing piece (which would have originally been cut on the fold), I added a seam allowance and cut two pieces. But now when I sewed the facing pieces together, they don't match up with the neckline (seams or notches or anything) and they are too short overall. What did I do wrong? In the actual garment, both the center front and the center back originally had a seam so I didn't change anything there, really, just moved the location of the zipper.

How short are they? It's been a while since I've made a woven fabric dress but I believe they must be cut on the bias?

I kept the same grainlines. The new center piece is now too long, and the tips are too short, and overall, the facing is short by about an inch and a half.

I almost want to skip the facings at this point and just finish the edge with bias tape instead. I'm on a super-tight deadline and that would save me some time. I have to get some more tape of the right color, though, but since I'm running to the fabric store tomorrow to get a seam ripper then that should be no big deal.

What about some light fusible interfacing just to give it some form? It sounds to me like somewhere along the process the seam allowance goofed you up. :) Do you have more of this fabric? Prudent baby had a tut on making your own bias tape I've used a few times.
