Twins... identical or not?
 

Anyone ever have (or know of anyone) that has ever had a test done to determine if their twins are identical or not? Just curious.

I had one done for free through an MIT twin language research study. They did a swab test at 5yrs old and are identical. I suspected they were but was told since pregnancy they were fraternal. Now there's no mistaking it, absolutely identical!!

I had my twins tested as well. I was told the entire pregnancy they were fraternal but when they were born, they looked very similar and had the same blood type. I had them tested around age 1 because I was so curious and I am so glad to know now!

I believe they automatically tested my twins at birth. I was told they were fraternal when I was prego but at our first pediatric appointment my dr said they were identical.

That's the placenta, they don't typically do zygosity testing in the hospital but I suppose it's possible. They tested the placenta at the hospital after birth and said it was 85% chance fraternal. I guess it was also 85% wrong! LOL

We had ours tested at just a few months old using an online zygosity testing service. We really wanted to know so a friend purchased it as a gift to us. It cost about $100 and took about 3 weeks for results. It confirmed they are identical, which didn't surprise us.
