Pumpkin question

Ok. Sorry if this has been asked before but I didnt find anything from my phone.

I have a pumpkin I bought for Halloween that wasn't carved what can I do with it? Would it be ok to eat? I am not a very experienced cook besides the basic stuff. LOL So how could I cook it? TIA.

Re: Pumpkin question

Pumpkins are, in general, a poor eating squash. Though you can prepare and eat it like any other squash. I would probably opt to bake it into quickbread- such as a pumpkin bread or muffin. The seeds are excellent for roasting.

Re: Pumpkin question

I did this with ours. I roasted the seeds and roasted the pumpkin. After roasting I pureed and measured into 1 cup increments and froze them. When I make anything with pumpkin I have it.

Re: Pumpkin question

I roast the seeds of pumpkins & other squash for a yummy snack - my kids love to take them to school or have them in their trail mix. If you haven't done it before, here's a link to a recipe.

I use pumpkin in breads and pancakes, muffins, etc. They're great for pies too, either sweet or hearty.
