Which tablet for my kids??
DH and I are considering getting tablets for our kids-ages 6, 9, and 12 (though they all have birthdays within 1-2 months of Christmas). We'd give them to them at Christmas but they'd ultimately be for school as well as entertainment. We are a homeschooling family.

I want the tablet to access as many libraries of books as possible. I want them to be able to download several movies/shows to their devices. I want them to be able to play different games, whether they are educational or just for fun. I also want ODS to be able to check his email and FB (when he turns 13 in 2 months and gets it). ODS also likes to be able to make movies and edit them and send them around to his friends via email. I also want him to be able to play the Minecraft app on his tablet.

So, please vote! Which one? And if you choose "other" please tell me which one and why! I'm not looking to spend more than $200-250 each. Thanks all!

I have the Samsung galaxy, and i'm very happy with it. I watch movies and downloaded Kindle to it. I haven't done much else yet. I need to get a good calender and notes going, but haven't yet.

It takes awesome pictures, and it's easy to delete photos, or upload them to whatever site I want.

I personally didn't like the 7" Galaxy Tab 2.0 The battery life was horrible. Ended up returning it not to mention the very cheap quality pixel density. The graphics were just not all there.

Although I do hear that the Nexus 7" does really well; close to iPad's battery life which is very impressive. I'd probably go with the Nexus out of those options for the price range.

My DH and I each just got the Nexus 7" as an early christmas present. We both love it. I use it more for reading books, internet, and kids games (minecraft works really well on it or so I have heard from my DS who is always using it). I haven't used the camera on it at all so I can't comment on that aspect. I am pretty happy with the battery life on it. DH is over the top spoiled when it comes to buying the newest electronic gadgets and he really likes it too. Usually he buys something and decides within a few days that it isn't all it was made out to be and returns it or sells it.
