My oldest daughter relayed this conversation to me that she had with her bus driver on Monday..

DD1-Today or tomorrow will probably be the last time you have to pick me up
Bus driver-how come?
DD1-because I get my car this week:mrgreen:
bus driver-(just trying to tease) yeah well, wait till you get grounded from that car
DD1-they can't ground me from it, it's mine.
Bus Driver-who pays for your gas?
DD1-me
BD-who pays for your insurance?
DD1-me
BD-who pays for repairs?
DD1-I did
BD-who paid for the plates?
DD-me

I was just a bit proud that yes, my almost 17 year old is truly learning how to be responsible for her own life.

My daughter got her car when my father in law passed away. But, she's been responsible for it ever since. She's taken good care of it, and really, really loves it.

Of course you are proud! That is great. I was the same when I got my first car at 17. I was proud of myself. She should be too.

That was me, too. Really frosted me that even though I *paid* for my car/tabs etc I wasn't allowed to actually legally own it until my 18th birthday when we transferred the title to my name.
