Okay I bought a Moby off FSOT now what do I do with it.

So I have a Moby and this is my first time using a wrap. I had a cheapo carrier from Walmart when my son was little but I didn't use it long because he was a chunker and it hurt me. But now I have a moby and I'm having difficulty. I can't seem to get it right without my husband there to help me and he's hardly ever home so I need to figure this out. What are your favorite ways to wrap? My LO is 3 months and almost 14 lbs.

Not sure if this matters but I'm also just shy of 6 ft tall size 12/14 and have a long torso. Thanks.

I think the baby is already too heavy for this wrap. It's so stretchy.

Yeah, from what I've read, the Moby isn't supportive enough for very long. Look for a Bali Baby Stretch Wrap if you want a stretch that can go up to a higher weight - it's a hybrid, stretchy enough to be forgiving of beginner mistakes, but supportive enough for babies that are bigger than a newborn. Or, check out www.thebabywearer.com for other ideas. There are lots of great woven wraps that will be more supportive.

I've got a Bali Baby Stretch that I bought barely used for about half the price of new and I've got a Vatanai Orkney coming because tons of mamas on TBW recommended it for a new wrapper with a newborn.

I like the hug hold for DD. She is about 12lbs. It lasts about an hour for me before I have to tighten it up.

Thanks for your help everyone. I like how the wrap works when I first put the baby in, but I don't like how it gets so loose so quick. I'm just going to keep practicing. On the up side LO likes being carried. When she gets a little bigger I think I'm going to try and make my own woven wrap because it looks like they're pricey.

My baby is 6 months and 20 lbs. I still carry him around when he's fussy and won't tolerate being elsewhere but not sleeping.

I make sure the front panel of the fabric that first touches my waist is snug and when the two long sides go back on either side of me and cross in the back and come back over my shoulders, THAT is the point I snug it up again. Pull the fabric against your tummy snugly, taking care not to twist the fabric much, so it can spread out once its fully on for more support/comfort. When I make the X, make it tighter, not looser. I don't "loosen" it up making room for baby when I make the X in front of me, that will happen the first few minutes of wearing baby.

When you push the tails down through the front of the fabric, that's another point I re-tighten. Re-tug the fabric that came up over your shoulders snug. Its easy to let that front fabric get all floppy when you put the tails through.

don't get discouraged!
