POLL:How many cookbooks do you have?

How many cook books do you have? My in laws were over. They said I need to purge my living room. I was puzzled as all we have is seating for 5(we are a family of five), 1 end table, 2 pole lamps, and my bookcase. I didn't think it was a lot. The next day it was brought up again. It turns out they were talking about the bookcase which holds all my cook books.

I counted mine. I have a total of 116 cookbooks.

These are the cookbooks and cooking magazines I use most frequently and are in shelves to the left of my stove

I have two boxes in the garage with ones that I could part with if I had to. I just haven't felt a need to part with them yet :)

Um a lot. Only a few are out on the shelves because I don't have another bookcase :-). Don't let anyone tell you you have too many. Books are awesome.

You and I agree on books. I told them I had just purged my books. People have given me books I don't want over the years. I pulled and gave away like 10-15 books. What I have are ones I have no intention of parting with.

2. A family cookbook and better homes and gardens cookbook from the 70s (still in print but this version is my fave)

It's all I need. :)

25-50 after purging today. But on the low end of that scale.

I like vintage cookbooks. When the shelves are full I purge them. Keeps it at bay.

If I had an unlimited budget, I'd love to collect vintage and antique cookbooks. For practical purposes, I own 5 cookbooks. The basic Betty Crocker book I was gifted when I first moved out of my parents' home. I still reference it on occasion. I have a Korean cookbook, a family cookbook, and two texts from culinary school (one for cooking and one for baking).

I have the better homes and gardens too! :giggle2: It is my only real cookbook!
Then I have 4 or 5 canning books. Not sure if those count as cookbooks. I have some older ones that I use for recipes but not canning times. (They are old so meat and lots of stuff is NOT pressure canned :giggle2: )

We have about less than 20 cookbooks here. My mother is a good cook and she can make dishes that are not found in our cookbooks. I cook as well but I never use cookbooks, the dishes I make comes from the mind because I am very creative.
