35 weekers anyone??
Anyone have a 35 weeker, no steroid shots? How did they do? NICU time? I went to the doc today and he doesnt think I'll make it another week. :(

Also, my dd came right at 36 weeks, 6lb 3 oz, and needed 2 doses of surfactant and 10 days in the NICU.

My dd was born at 34w5d with suspected iugr. She was born healthy and big! 6 pounds 1 ounce. She was readmitted to the led unit on day 3 for jaundice treatment (3 days), but she had no breathing, eating or temp issues. Turns out she had breast feeding jaundice/long term jaundice and was fine after 6 weeks. But no nicu time.

Many 35 weekers do just fine, but of course some don't and need some extra help.

We had an amnio done for lung maturity the day before she was born and her lungs were ready.

Is there a reason they haven't given you steroids?

Re: 35 weekers anyone??
No, I have no idea. I specifically asked about it today knowing that 34 weeks was usually the cut off, and he said I was 34 and 5 so I was already past it. I haven't had terrible preterm labor issues this time and just started dilating last week, so they weren't super worried about it until this week apparently. I've had contrax every 2-6 minutes all week, but they don't get worse, they're just irritating.

I had 35 week twins. 5'2 and 5'11. Both treated for jaundice but only the bigger twin was in NICU for 10 days. No issues since though

I also had 35 week twins (35, 5 days, so closer to 36). 5'1 and 5'10. I did have the steriods, but had zero issues.

I had a 35 weeker that weighed 6lbs. 12oz. and no problems except pooping issues. He could not pass his merconium for several days. When he did it was constipated. Not related to being born early but rather pancreas does not function but at 5%. Other than that and a little jaundice that all my babies have had he was healthy with no need for NICU.

Re: 35 weekers anyone??
My son was born at 35 weeks and had no NICU time. He was perfectly healthy, just small. 5lbs 5oz. I developed high blood pressure at 31 weeks and was put on bed rest. I was given the steroids at 32 almost 33 weeks because they didn't think I would make it through the weekend. I did though! :) I think at 35 weeks you have a good chance of the baby being fine. Plus who knows maybe you will be able to bake the baby a bit longer. Every day is a plus. :)

My son was born at 35 weeks at 6lbs. 2 oz. and didn't need any NICU time. We did have to treat him for jaundice at home for about ten days with a light bed and belt.

Re: 35 weekers anyone??
I have a 35 weeker in my arms right now. Tomorrow, she will be 3 weeks old, I made it to 35 weeks 2 days with her, and she stayed with me the whole time. She never needed any extra help. That being said, I had a 34 weeker that got the shots, and he needed 12 hours in the nicu, I had a 36 weeker that didn't get the shots, and she needed 48 hours in the nicu. Sylvia, my baby was super healthy and hasn't had a single issue. My doctor did everything possible to keep her in every extra day because she said they really don't do the shots after 34 weeks any more. I was so blessed to be able to hold her and nurse her 30 minutes out of surgery. The NICU team told us half of 35 weekers need time in the nicu, the other half are fine. They said girls do better, and for some reason white babies did the best. I still don't understand that one?
