Eczema on lower stomach (where the diaper covers)

Around Thanksgiving my then 3 month old started developing a rash. Between then and now, we have gone to the pediatrician and he said it is eczema. In the past 3 weeks it has gotten much worse. Still just the same spot(s) on the lower stomach to his package and one very small spot on the inside of one thigh.

I have tried disposables, three different cloth diapers (Bumgenius, RaR's, & G's with prefolds), lanolin, cortisone cream, aquaphor, airing him out...:banghead: I thought it was the PUL fabric on the inside of our BG's, so we removed those from our stash and it started to look a bit better, but now is pretty red again.

What am I not seeing? Why can't we get this under control? Is there a different cloth diaper/system we should try? Short of coconut oil, is there something else we should try putting on it? HELP! TIA!

I was going to suggest coconut oil actually, that and jojoba is what I use for my excema :( and I generally don't use anything but castile soap.

Maybe it's the wipes? This isn't the same thing but my LO was getting diaper rash so bad I switched from wipes to using cloth wipes with a spray I made of water, castile soap, a little bit of oil and a few drops of vitamin e and no rash since, but I don't know if it'd work on excema?

This is what we went through -- your experience sounds similar :hugs:

For my son it was an issue of him needing both stay-dry AND breathable covers. I think you PMed me about what we used ;) It definitely took a few days of being consistent for him to clear up. Disposable diapers helped, but, again, took a few days to completely clear.

ETA -- G-diapers are supposed to be breathable, so maybe try those but also add stay-dry liners so your DS doesn't have a wet PF against him after he pees

My ds has a rash on his lower belly, right under his belly button. My ped said it was eczema. For that and a rash on his cheeks by ears, he gavee a rx hydrocortisone cream
