MUS users. Q about moving on in Alpha

Mr Demme says not to move on until each concept is mastered. DD has +0 and +1 facts down pat but still has trouble with +2 even though we've completed all 6 lessons. We've even done a few extra drill sheets. The next topic is +9. Do I move on since +2 will be covered in review or do we just do drill sheets/flash cards until +2 is mastered? I mean, really, how important is it at this point to truly master it?

Btw, she didn't master counting and writing to 100 neither. We moved on because she was burning out and really discouraged. I plan to come back to that later.

I would go ahead and move on, as it'll be reviewed and you can always throw in some extra worksheets with review.

We hung out at +9 for a long time before DD really got it but I wouldn't say she has the facts memorized or anything. After that, when we got to the doubles. I made up cards for her with the fact and the answer on it and then hung them on the wall across from her seat so she can see them all the time to help her memorize them.

My point here is, I would move along when your DC gets the concept, not necessarily after memorization has occurred b/c otherwise, you could be sitting a long time on one lesson like we did. Good luck!
