Blogging without using your real name?
 

Is that weird or do most people do it? I know the internet is very public so real names would be kinda risky wouldnt it? Just curious.

I have a blog and I don't use real names.

I had a blog and I used my real first name. I did end up removing it from public view though because I disclosed a lot of personal details, we live in a small town, have three uniquely named people in our home, and run our own small B&M business. About the time I closed that blog I started another one with the intention of blogging with more anonymity but even on that one I use my real first name. I did consider giving my kids nicknames though. I never got around to really launching it though.

I blog and I use our real first names but good luck finding out who we are on there! If you are able to read all 1169 posts on there you will get a educated guess of where we live, but it is just that. I don't think you could pin us down that much on there.

I'm probably way off base saying this, but I hate kid nicknames. You don't have to use your kids' real names, but I have a hard time taking anyone who calls their kid "Mcgoo" or "Princess Charming" seriously. I also don't care for just using the first letter of a name. I'm stupid and I hate it when I have to stop and figure out what this random letter in the middle of a sentence is for. I also think if you are going to go so far as to post pictures of your kids, you might as well just use their names.

ON my own personal blog, I mostly just don't use our last name.

I do I both ways, I have a few blogs with my name and a few without, my mil is crazy stalker who told me I had to quit blogging so I just prefer her to not know I do blog. The few with my real name are food and such.

Glad to hear its not so weird and a bit more normal.
