I want to make something
I want to make throwback outfits out of gingham. Shopping around, I guess it is not a popular fabric anymore. I have done almost zero research on textiles. I learned a little lately from my quilting Aunt. Gingham. I like the way gingham feels. Of course, it reminds me of my childhood. The only drawback is that it has no stretch.

Maybe she means seersucker? That usually has a gingham pattern . . .

My walmart has several colors of seersucker. I used some for sleep pants for the kiddos.

Gingham (with no stretch) is usually 100% cotton. It's like working with any woven. If it is double sided and a little thicker it is called homespun. I actually really like homespun. You can make lots of really cute things. I bet your Aunt could help you! If yo have a little girl ... a sun dress or a tiered skirt. And for a boy .... little nerdy shorts with a bowtie sewn on a t-shirt would be so ubber cute!
(Also gingham is usually really cheap so great to practice on!) |
