s/o hair thread

How much do you pay for cut and color? I have never done a real salon before, but I took my 14yo dd to have her hair done today for a surprise. She got an all over color with some peek a boo highlights and a cut (not dramatic, more trim with bangs). It cost me $160 with tip. Is that reasonable our should I shop around? It looks fantastic and I really like the lady that did it, but she says that my daughter should come in every six to eight weeks and that they do not touch up, it would be same price every time. I am thinking of getting some color too, but that would be very pricey for both of us to maintain. Thoughts?

Getting hair dyed will always, always be expensive. $160 sounds about right for cut and colour. I know, it sucks.

$15 for a cut, $9 for a box of color. :giggle: I'm really low maintenance.

Ive been known to cut my own hair and a cheapo box of color from Wal-Mart lol but that sounds about right for a professional.

Yup. Same here. I would fall over dead if I payed $160 for a cut/color. I really have no idea what going rate for that it though.

That's about right for cut & color.

I had been going to a regular neighborhood place that a coworker hooked me up with. I have "challenging" hair & the $25 she charges me is more than reasonable. I usually tip her another $10 on top of that. I recently sprung for a specialty cut for about $55. But since I only get my hair cut 1-2x/yr, I don't feel too bad ;)

I cut my own hair (as well as all the boys in the house) and a box of hair dye cost about $7.
I can't imagine paying $160 for a cut and color! If it was something myself or my kids really wanted I would learn to do it myself.

$160 is about right. That's why I don't dye my hair. :)

Yep that sounds about right. That is exactly why I have my natural color and my mom cuts my hair :giggle:
