Which booster would you recommend?

Hi, my youngest is ready to move into a booster. I have my older daughter in a Britax booster, which we love, but I can't purchase one right now due to a big change in finances in our home. I want one with a back so I can thread the seatbelt through to keep it from cutting into her neck, as well as one of those little stabilizing straps that comes up between the legs and hooks onto the lap portion of the belt to keep it from riding up on her belly. I don't have a lot to spend. I've heard that Costco has a good one. Any more suggestions?

How old is the child? What are the stats?

She's almost 6, weighs 48 lbs, and is tall for her age (haven't measured in awhile, but she's taller than her friends). She's currently in a Britax Regent. According to the new info I've read, she and the seat together surpass the 65lb weight limit for safetly when using the latch hookups. I've routed the seatbelt through in addition to the latch, but she's definitley outgrowing the seat. The shoulder straps are on the highest setting and I'm running out of slack to loosen and tighten them.

BTW, the pic on my avatar is really old. She was two in it.

You cannot use the seatbelt in addition to latch. You have to undo the latch and just use the seatbelt, as she is over 40 pounds. The difference in stretch between the two kinds of belts means they cannot be used together.

Also, check the date of manufacture. Many (but not all) Regents are expired by now. They are only good 6 years from the date of manufacture.

Graco Turbobooster is a nice booster that is relatively inexpensive. It fits many kids well. Here is a list of the IIHS best bets boosters. There are boosters in all price ranges on this list...

Thanks for the info. I threaded the seatbelt through the back of the seat, then reattached the latch. I thought it was safer that way; glad I asked. I'll correct it.

I bought the Regent in 2007, but I don't have the paperwork. I imagine it's going on 6 years or more. I had no idea that a carseat could expire.

Thank you for the list :)

The only booster with the strap between the legs is the Britax Parkway SG/SGL. If it's really important for you to have your younger daughter in a booster like that, then maybe pass your older dd's booster down and get a backless booster for your older dd?
