Any Teachers here?
Specifically kindergarten/1rst grade teachers? What's a good "I'm sorry my kid is a little brat" gift? :hide:

My son has been so difficult this year and bless her heart, she had him last year too. He's had two demerits already this week, he's picking fights with other kids and being difficult about getting his work done, specifically goofing off and pretending he doesn't know how to do it. I feel terrible because he's not the only one but he certainly knows better. I want to send something to let her know I appreciate all she has to do to keep her sanity on a daily basis and that I know she has to work that much harder when my kid's being a little snot. Thoughts? I don't think she drinks coffee if that makes a difference.

Re: Any Teachers here?
maybe some bubble bath? Except I don't think I would have used it.

a massage gc?

Just a note saying how much you appreciate her help with your son. :hugs:

I had some "off the wall" kids and only one of their parents "thanked" me for what I did with him. And it was just a simple note with her appreciation

Honestly, the best gift is just that you're open minded and working with the teacher. I'd rather have that any day of the week!

If you're really looking to give something, a note would be wonderful.

Re: Any Teachers here?
I sent my son's teacher a $25 Amazon card for Christmas, and in the past have made a donation to the education foundation in her name. :) He is ODD, and a terror. The principals get a list of those who have money donated in their names, so it looks good professionally. Also, the teachers who have money donated regularly get favorable treatment when the apply for grants. That is "unofficial" but has been confirmed in our district to be true.

You are so thoughtful! When i had a difficult one in my classroom, I always appreciated a (very rare note) from the parents. Any acknowledgement of the daily challenges involved in a teacher's day were very thoughtful. If you're looking for more though, a few cookies from a local bakery, gift card for a coffee shop, new bottle of nail polish and lotion, maybe even bring her some take out for lunch one day next week or ask what her favorite restaurant is and have dinner delivered to her house one evening-I always loved Chinese.

I'm planning on a nice note for my daughters' teachers and aides and maybe some chocolate from a local place. She has 3 teachers and 3 aides she interacts with daily (integrated preschool) so I can't do anything too big.

Re: Any Teachers here?
Notes letting herknow how much you appreciate her are the best, gift cards were definetly great gifts, but write to her for sure!

Re: Any Teachers here?
During the holidays, I wrote a note to the principal of DS's school praising his teacher. I wrote about specific instances where she had gone out of her way for the kids, things that she was doing in her classroom that my child enjoyed, etc. etc. The principal replied thanking me for letting her know about my satisfaction and how refreshing it was to hear from a parent that was happy with their experience rather than the other way around.

The principal did forward my letter to my child's teacher and when I saw her next she gave me the biggest hug and thanked me for the kind words.

So not only did the teacher get feedback from me, but now her boss knows that she is doing a great job in the classroom.

I can imagine a gesture like that would go a long way with your child's teacher.
