pull on PUL cover over trainers

Okay, I'm thinking of upcycling some prefolds into trainers, using this tutorial:

http://boutiquebabies.wordpress.com/...fold-tutorial/

but I'm thinking that I might not do the outer PUL (I would do a binding for covering the elastic out of cotton ribbing)

Would it be crazy to use the same pattern with PUL, increasing the size ever so slightly, and using fold over elastic for the edging at the legs and waist to do a pul-on cover? I know I could order a Dappi or Bummis cover pretty cheap, but I have all this PUL so I'm trying to do something with it before my baby is out of diapers entirely :giggle2:

my other thought was to use the Katrina pattern for a soaker but make it with PUL and FOE at the legs... oh, decisions...

Either one would work, I think the first idea (use the same pattern but slightly increase size) would probably work really well since they'd both be cut the same. Just use a size bigger than what you usually use for fleece with the Katrina pattern - I've done that before to make pull on PUL covers and it's worked well. Another option if you want to purchase a cover pattern to use is the diaper covers deluxe pattern, the pull-on snap-off cover (a lot like MEAF) can also be made without snaps. HTH!
