Cortisone shot

Just had a cortisone shot and I asked about nursing - the dr said I should wait 2-3 days (to be safe) - does this sound right or too long? or is it okay if I nurse anyway? My baby is 18 months old so at least not a newborn. He is already panicking over me not letting him nurse. :( The dr also wants me to take motrin or aleve (not sure of spelling.) I am also nursing my 3 year old :( but I may just wean her since it may be "time" anyway...

What kind of cortisone shot?
Do you have the actual drug name?

I dont think you need to wait. Generally any steriod is fine when nursing.

I don't know... it was something he injected into my knee. Thanks :goodvibes:

Ita fine to nurse. Those are injected into the joint facet and little is in your blood stream.

Kenalog is a common one and safe fetus says no adverse affects reported.

Phew, I hope so... I'm always paranoid about medications in general

It is hard to know without the exact drug. If you are worried, call a pharmacy and ask, they often know more than docs about drugs.

I personally wouldn't worry about it, especially with older nurslings.
