Best appliance for making baby food in small batches

I was planning to use my Vitamix to make baby food for DD but turns out it is stuck on a higher gear and won't puree small quantities very well. What have you found to be the easiest and most affordable to use for making small batches of baby food?

- immersion blender
- food mill
- other?

Thanks mamas! :)

I have the cheaper Ninja blender, like this: http://www.ninjakitchen.com/NinjaMas...ID=detailsCont

The smaller container is awesome for small batches of baby food. I imagine any small food processor would work equally well.

I know a lot of people use immersion blenders as well. I didn't have one with my first two kiddos but do now and plan on using that as well.

I have the ninja blender! but i've not tried to make baby food with it. Glad to know it works well so i don't have to buy yet another gadget!

I used a mini food processor and it works splendidly. They are low cost and very effective for smaller quantities like that.

I have a baby brezza and am barely beginning to explore it. So far I've made apple sauce and it was very easy. We are going with more of a baby led weaning approach vs purely puréed food so I also found the baby bullet steamer at my local Walmart on clearance. I will be steaming her food so it's soft enough for her to mash on her own. Hope this helps! Good luck mama!

The Magic Bullet served me well through 3 babies and I use it for everything else including making sauces and marinades. I got it through a trade off craigslist, sold off all the extra parts/accessories/cups I didn't need on eBay (I think I netted about $60!) and just have the large and small cup and the base, and a couple of lids.

You can probably find them used on craigslist for between $15 and $30.

I never made food in advance. I either used a fork or potato masher to mash her something or a hand powered food processor (Boon brand). I love my food processor. My daughter has outgrown purées or mashed food, but I still use that food processor often for my own stuff.
