Who's found their tried and true wash routine??

I thought I found mine but now I'm having stink issues. We have hard water so that's a factor. I was wondering what you mamas that have been washing the same way for OVER 3 or 4 months do? Lemme know if you have hard or soft water.:lostit: tanks!:thankyou:

oo oo MEEEEEE I just posted yesterday:D

FINALLY!!!!!! It turns out I def need more than one wash since I have a fl and hard water ... I hate using so much water but finally FINALLY the staining issues are getting MUCH better!!!

my system
cold soak 30 mins sometimes I put something in here (dawn, a&h f&c or something, I'm still tweaking this)
cold wash on delicate (dawn with vinegar in the rise but varies)
hot/heavy duty wash (very very lil soap just to break the water tension & tto in the rinse)
extra rinse

PHEW!

Re: Who's found their tried and true wash routine??

I rinse poopy diapers right away (dunk/swish) then into the pail w/ the wet dipes. Every 3 days.....

1 cap of sportwash, hot wash, w/ auto soak cycle, cold rinse, tumble dry w/high heat.

Been doing it for a year or more.....no stripping, no issues.

(I only strip FSOT diapers when they arrive.)

And, I don't know if my water is hard or soft....how do you tell?

We finally have it down... I'd like to replace the Tide F & C with another soap but can't find anything around here...

Rinse poop right away.
Wash every other night (about 10-12 diapers ~ all pockets)
Cold rinse
Hot wash with Tide f & C or dawn (about once every two weeks) + Calgon for hard water (about a tablespoon?)
Cold rinse
Hang pockets to dry, inserts in the dryer.
Stuff pockets.
Use.
Repeat.

It took a bit to get a good balance of soap and calgon and # of diapers, but other than FSOT which I strip, we are doing well.

If you notice mineral buildup..around the tub or like in your pots or teakettle. can you tell?

So you use the calgon every wash? I was wondering about this..I have been using it every wash and noticed that some ppl use it every couple of weeks or so.

Re: Who's found their tried and true wash routine??

I have :bliss: after much trial and error, I have it downpat!

Cold wash, half cap of purex free and clear and 2-3 drops of TTO
Hot wash
Hang covers and pockets to dry
Prefolds hang dry then tossed in the drier for 10 minutes (to get rid of crunchiness)

Diapers come out great every time now!

Fisher&Paykel Eco Intuitive

Rinse 2 (with 1/4 scoop oxy if we've had lots of runny kefir-induced poop)
Tub Clean cycle w/detergent (includes hot eco, hot aggitate, and 2hr soak)
Max Wash cycle (traditional wash, hot water, M/H water level)

*my default rinse is double deep for all cycles*

My dh thinks we have hard water, but I don't think so.

Anywho our wash routine (and it hasn't failed me yet!)

*Always* rinse out the poo from the diapers *before* they go into the pail - that is not something I skip.

Then
Cold wash w/ no soap(well this is a rinse but I use the wash cycle)
HOT HOT wash with Dawn (and on the odd occasion, vinegar)
HOT wash (with no soap - again wash cycle)
COLD rinse if needed (as in if I see any bubbles)

:)

Re: Who's found their tried and true wash routine??

A solid year and no stink issues yet!!

I spray all the poopy dipes before putting them into the wetbag.
30 minute hot soak
Hot Wash
2 cold rinses

Wash using 1/4 cap of Purex F&C

I don't have many temp options on my machine so I thought I was in trouble but this way has been working awesome. No stains either!! I NEVER use anything besides the Purex (no EO's, bleach, ect.)
