Prefold experts ;)

Okay, I'm just learning how to use prefolds so naturally I'm not very good at it yet. I was wondering if it's normal to always have a gap in the crotch area when seated? Sometimes I have a hard time getting the legs tight enough when doing the angel fold and while seated it's baggy. Is this normal given there is no elastic or am I just not pulling it tight enough?

When I do the bikini twist it's usually pretty snug. Any tips? ideas?

I'm really loving prefolds...now only if my wool would arrive!!!!

Thanks mamas!

Nope, no gap . Sorry!:giggle: Are you snappi'ing? I think personally that it just takes practice. Basically I just fold down a lot in back(3-4inches?) which makes me pull tight in the front to reach her belly button. Then I snappi one side and hold the snappi taut to make sure that it holds that "wing" in place while I snappi the other side and lastly snappi well the bottom to keep it from slipping and making that gap you talk about. Try the Jelly roll fold. That may help w/ the gap. It's does take practice :)

Great pics, thanks for the descriptions! Yeah, I seem to have better luck when folding in back. And yes, I'm using a snappi. I keep getting better with time...and it seems a toddler snappi help a lot.

So, in your last picture...those folds are snug to the legs?

Practice...practice...practice.... :) It's hard to practice on a 15 month old...

I wouldn't consider myself an expert because I'm always learning new ways to fold but I don't normally have a gap in the crotch. I do the reverse angel wing and jelly roll on my toddler and they both work beautifully.

The other thing you might want to try is to pull one side tight, Snappi, and then pull the fabric up in the middle and over to the other side tucking it in as you go and then Snappi the other side. It's hard to explain without showing you but the more you tweak and learn the easier it gets. Pretty soon you'll have a snug little booty. There's is nothing cuter than a prefold butt IMO. :giggle:

Cool, I'll try the jelly fold. I'm familar with how the fold works, but I've tried it and find it hard to hold the rolls in place while pulling. It's such a skill :)

I love our toddler Snappi. Have you tried the reverse angel wing fold down in the front? That's the first one I mastered/learned and I can always get a super tight fit with that but if he's too wiggly folding down in the back is harder for me to get a snug fit.

It does take practice. Sometimes when I'm too lazy to do it perfectly I end up with a gap.

Yeah, the way she's hanging over the couch makes it hard to tell but it's two minutes after the first pic so it's very tight to the legs.
