Carseat question

First off this is the carseat I have http://www.sears.ca/gp/product/B000F...odeid=16340361

Now for the question. My nephew is coming up for a week and he doesn't have a carseat. His mom doesn't drive, they take the bus everywhere so there is no need for one. I want him in a carseat in my car, so he will use my DD's (she still fits in her infant carrier, so she will use that). Anyway, it says it's used as a booster seat from 40 lbs, but he is only 37.5 lbs, but he is 4.5 years old. He is 44 inches tall. I don't have my manual anymore, my smart DF threw it away :giggle: So can he still be in the harness if he is that tall? Or should he just be using it as a booster seat?

TIA!!

The only way to really know is to put him in it. It depends on where his height is. If he is all torso, then I doubt it, but if he is all legs, its possible. If I'm not mistaken, for some reason the top most slot height can't be used for the harness though. So you might need to check on that.

Do you have a link? I haven't been able to find it.

I doubt a 44" tall child will still fit the harness on this seat -- it has very low top USABLE slots (top slot is deceptive: only safe in booster mode as per the manufacturer).

Google Dorel Juvenile & you may find the manual online ... or call the toll free number on the seat to ask Customer Service for a new manual.

What vehicle year, make, model? He probably won't fit the harness by height & you might be able to engage the seatbelt retractor to lock shoulder belt as added precaution to help ensure he stays properly positioned.

Thank you, I am going to call now to get a new manual.

The vehicle is a 2003 Ford Taurus.

Cool, you shouldn't have a problem with the seatbelt then -- just pull it ALL the way out *slowly* & it will ratchet back to lock kiddo in place.... If you can swing it I'd consider buying him a Ride Safer Travel Vest for Mom to keep just in case they ever ride in a taxi!
