What to begin with
Ok, I'm going to start cloth diapering and am now deciding what I need to buy to begin with. I want to keep it simple - no pins. I'm leaning towards mostly using fitted diapers - I want to buy a couple good ones to get a feel for absorbancy. I am going to buy covers initially so I don't have to worry about leaks. How many covers do you think I need to begin with (part time use)? Would 5 or 6 be enough? I am also going to get 1 or 2 AIOs and 1 or 2 pockets just to have. As I get more experienced I'll sew most if not all of my diapers I'm just thinking covers may be beyond my skills for now so I'm buying those. How many fitteds do you think I'll need? Or how many total diapers would I want may be the better question? I am not sure if I'll use cloth over night but I'll mostly be using them all day unless we're going to be away from home for quite awhile. I only want to do laundry every 2-3 days - not daily.

Re: What to begin with
I started off with 3 FB's-hated them and almost didn't want to cd anymore. The fit wasn't good and the snaps and stuffing really bothered me for some reason, dh wasn't too keen on it either. I quickly switched to AIO's and have been there ever since. I started making them for her and even when my stash consisted of 4 diapers, I cd'ed religiously. I would literally change a diapers and didn't need a wet bag because they went straight into the washer. Dh thought I was nuts, but I was so determined to cd, no one could stop me. I don't really know anything about fitteds since we only use Blessed Bottomz AIO's, but I only go through about 6 a day. I would multiply that by how many I need over 3 days and that would be the ideal stash. I'm guessing the same would work for Fitteds. Buy/sew as many as will last you 1 day and multiply that by how many days you want to go between washings. I hope you do look into AIO's, esp. for hubbies and others that want something as easy as a sposie. That way, they won't be too quick to always stick dc in a sposie when you want them in cloth. Happy cd'ing, I'm so glad that I made the switch, but wish I did it sooner. Dd was 3 months old, but I had no choice, I was in the hospital for the first 2 months of her life.
