prefold question. Help!
Ok, so i am trying to snappi prefolds on. I have done jelly roll fold and angel wing fold with a regular prefold and a snappi. When i try to get the back part of the prefold to the front(by the hips, not the crotch) it seems like it is just barely(lets say 1" or less) over the front of the prefold when on baby. The snappi this way feels way to tight on baby. I feel like i need more width in the prefold. Does this mean that dd needs a toddler prefold or is this normal. Dd is 10 months with 18-18.5 rise, 11 inch thighs, 18 inch waist and 20"(??) hips. I just looked and one side after her playing for like 5 minutes isn't even overlapping the front anymore, kwim?

Re: prefold question. Help!
I hope this makes sense....

After you fold in your eges on the jelly roll, bring the pf up through dc's crotch, un fold the top part of the prefold so that part is not jellyrolled. That gives you extra room to snappi. LMK if that makes sense, if not I can take pics.

Re: prefold question. Help!
could be they are too small now, but first try spreading out the PF in the front by her belly, where the sides of the PF would overlap. That might give you the extra coverage you need.

Re: prefold question. Help!
:hugs: Try opening the front back up after you pull it through the crotch. That way there's wings on the back and the front. That should give more fabric to overlap. You could try the bikini twist too. Toddler PFs are HUGE.

That's why I like pins.

ETA: My 30 lb 27 m/o still wears regulars. I doubt they are too small.
Funny we were all posting at the same time.

Re: prefold question. Help!
ok, so i open the front area(at belly button) so the front has wings. In the tutorials i looked at they didn't unfold the front to make the front have wings. Will try that.

No, I've never seen directions to do that anywhere either. I just started doing it, it works really well. If you are still folding extra length in front, I find it works really spiffy if you fold outward (towards yourself, so the fold shows). I think just because it's easier to pull wings out like that.

Re: prefold question. Help!
if you end up needing the width of the toddler size pf's i would definately suggest trimming them. oh and when you trim them use the extra material as a lay in soaker (or sew it on on one end!).

this is why when i FINALLY get my sewing machine and start making my prefolds for my ds i'm going to flare out and make one end wider (thus creating a back to the pf). it seems lots of mama's start having this problem when length is still fine. i want to avoid it!!!!

Re: prefold question. Help!
I only have 2 toddler prefolds. Here she is in a toddler prefold with the jellyroll(i tried). Is the fit ok? Is the snappi the way it is supposed to be or should it be stretched a lot more into a y? Thanks.

Re: prefold question. Help!
I can't believe you gals are discussing this because I posted a similiar question this morning.

I've been looking around for wider prefolds, but in order to get one or two inches wider, I have to deal with several inches longer, which is not what I need.

I'm going to try working with the prefolds more to see if I can't get them to fit better. I wish my Snappi was a little wider. I'm scared to death to try pins with my wiggly girl.
