Ways to wash (to be pinned)
Since there are so many posts each day about how to wash dipes and what soaps does everyone use and so on we thought we should have a sticky to go along with the others!
Please fill this out if you don't mind to help all the mommas out! What soap do you use? Do you add anything extra? If so, what? How many dipes do you wash at a time? Now explain your wash routine line by line Example: 1. Cold rinse with no soap 2. Hot wash with (insert soap name) soap and so on... I hope this gets many, many replies to help us all out! |
Re: Ways to wash (to be pinned)
I've got nothing since I'm CDing for the first time after this one comes but I was just coming on here to look for info on washing and such.
TIA! |
Re: Ways to wash (to be pinned)
What soap do you use? Regular Tide
Do you add anything extra? If so, what? Ocassionally I add Calgon because I have very hard water. How many dipes do you wash at a time? 18-20 Hot wash/cold rinse WITH detergent then Hot wash/cold rinse with nothing. If we have an extra poopy batch, I will do a cold rinse before that, but that is rarely. I keep it simple and it works great for me. |

If so, what? every once in a while I add a drop or 2 of TTO How many dipes do you wash at a time? unsure on the number but I do diaper wash every other day :goodvibes: Now explain your wash routine line by like I have a front loader 1. Cold soak and short wash cycle with no soap 2. Hot wash/cold rinse with Country Save soap (half a scoop) 3. one extra cold rinse 4. max extract 5. since it is winter here in MN, I dry on low for about 45 mins and let them air dry the rest of the way (PF's, fitteds, and pockets are what we use) |

Cold rinse - with or without TTO or BacOut 2. Hot wash with detergent 3. Cold extra rinse Once in a while I add a bit of Sun oxygen cleaner. Once a month I use Dawn instead of regular detergent. |
Re: Ways to wash (to be pinned)
I added a category for washer. Hope you don't mind. :goodvibes:
Washer LG Tromm Steam washer - front loader What soap do you use? Country Save after trying everything else Do you add anything extra? If so, what? Occassionaly vinegar to the first rinse, but not often How many dipes do you wash at a time? A pail full, probably 24-36 prefolds Now explain your wash routine line by like 1. Cold rinse and spin with nothing 2. Load 1 TBSP Country Save in detergent space and fill fabric dispenser with vinegar if I'm using it. (Maybe once a month if that) 3. Set to "permanent press" on hot/cold because it uses more water. Add the prewash, extra rinse, and extra water buttons. 4. Another warm/warm quick wash cycle or just a warm rinse and spin if I'm in a hurry. |
Re: Ways to wash (to be pinned)
Well, here goes mine. I can't say it's fool-proof, but it works for us!
What soap do you use? Bi-O-Kleen Do you add anything extra? If so, what? Yes, I add Bi-O-Kleen oxygen bleach. How many dipes do you wash at a time? In my opinion- a LOT! We use prefolds and fitteds, that's probably close to 2 dozen dipes at a time. Here is how I do the wash:
Also, if I see lots of bubbles in the rinse cycle, I do a 2nd rinse. |
Re: Ways to wash (to be pinned)
Maybe we should add if we have a front loader or top loader washer and if we have soft/hard water. That really makes a difference in wash routines too. And the types of diapers we use.
What soap do you use? Purex F & C and Calgon water softener Do you add anything extra? If so, what? I spray a 50/50 mix of bac out and water on the inserts and diapers before they go in the pail. Sometimes (usually once a week) I add a scoop of oxy clean to the cold quick wash How many dipes do you wash at a time? Anywhere from 12-30, depends on if I go 2 or 3 days between I have hard water and a front loading washer. I use mostly pockets, a few aios and a couple fitted for night time. Wash Routine 1. Quick cold wash 2. Heavy Hot wash with between 1/4 and 1/2 cap (depends on the # of dipes) full of Purex F & C and a cap full of Calgon water softener / extra rinse 3. Another Heavy Hot Wash with no detergent / extra rinse 4. Dry on med heat until the inserts are dry, then usually let the fitteds air dry the rest of the way |
