Is it too late to start?
I really wanted to go the EC route with this my third child. I did a little in the beginning, but ... it just got away from me.
He is 10 months old now - can I still start trying? My middle LO is 2 and wants nothing to do with the potty - I am anxious not to be in this situation again with my baby. Thanks for any advice! Erin |
Re: Is it too late to start?
I don't think that is too late at all. We started at 8mo (our dd is now 11mo) and we have met many folks who have started later. We have found the infant potty training late starters yahoo group to be a great deal of help.
What is nice about starting with the potty at this age is that they still are highly motivated by making mommy/daddy happy so a little positive reinforcement can go a long way (as compared to an older child who may be a bit more independent). From what I have read about EC at this age it becomes a combination of traditional potty training and EC techniques. Never the less, it is a great age to begin. Good luck! |
Re: Is it too late to start?
By no means am I an expert but we started around sixish months but I didn't make a big commitment. Now that he is 10ish months we are back on track and he is doing great! I don't think it's too late to start...just keep trying and be patient!
btw...I'd love to join the late starters yahoo group, could someone send me the link? |

Re: Is it too late to start?
DS is 11 months and we just started last week. He is doing amazing, I'm so proud! He has been peeing after naps, but yesterday he brought me the potty, so I put him on it and he peed, and then looked at me and smiled! I say give it a try!
