Help me find a new carrier

So, now that Noah is bigger, the Bjorn is kind of getting to be a pain. I want to try something new, and easier.

I didn't like the Maya because I never felt like I had it done up correctly, it never looked as nice as it did on the video

Is there such a sling that already "done up" and I can just adjust the rings to make it tighter? Meaning, something I don't have to fold and unfold...

I like the Ergo, too, but that's looks kinda big and bulky like the Bjorn-not easily stuffed in the diaper bag.

Give me ideas (and don't forget links) please! :)

Re: Help me find a new carrier

Hi,

I love my Ergo! It can be a little bulky, but for a while, it was the only way my daughter would take naps. So it quickly became a necessary part of our everyday life. I have used it shopping, on trips, and of course, at home so that I can get some chores done and it is so convenient.

I have heard good things about Mei Tei carriers. They look comfy, but also can fold up easily. Here is one place that sells them- http://www.cobaltcarriers.com . I know they are sold in lots of other places, but this was just the first one I saw when I did a quick search. I think I might try getting one of those for out next baby.

Good luck in your search!

Girl, your back is screaming for a BabyHawk!!! www.babyhawk.com or a Kozy www.kozycarrier.homestead.com

Both are sooo comfy, can carry dc 'til they are about 35 lbs and are beautiful. I have both kinds (plus about a hindred other carriers:blush: ) but these 2 are a good place to start!

I have a bh and an Ergo (Jonah is 31 lbs) The Ergo is more comfy for longer wearing (I can never tell he's there) but I love the prints on my bh. It never bothered me that it doesn't fit in a bag because the only carrier small enough for my diaper bag is a pouch :giggle:

If you decide to go with an Ergo type carrier, check out the Patapum, it's basically the same except cheaper. There's a special on them right now, you can check it out here: http://bumstheword.com/catalog.php?i...3Fcategory%3D4 ;)

you will LOVE this http://www.joeypocket.com/ the website is new and still being trweaked, but this momma made mine custom for me and tweaked it and looked for the requested material and is SO sweet! Mine cost way less, but I was a lucky tester and still these are darn reasonable prices for a sturdy, comfy, custom MT.

I'm gonna be making some ring slings and mei tais here in the next few weeks and I'll need testers!

Oh, and I have a Kozy on it's way to me from Canada (dang, it's taking forever!) that I'm gonna sell since I'm making my own now.

I've heard only good stuff about babyhawks and kozys.

Re: Help me find a new carrier

I'd say try a mei tai as well, I have a couple that we use a lot! Some tying involved but it's easy once you get the hang of it :)
Can't wear Noah facing outwards in it though, like he probably was in your Bjorn. They are good for facing in towards you, but they are also great for wearing baby on your back instead so they can check stuff out that way

My 2 favorites are:

Freehand http://www.freehandbaby.com/

Napsack http://napsack.laurence.com/ Hmmm...they are on HC but it says that she has sold the business, so don't know what the scoop is there and if they are available right now...

Everyone seems to love their Babyhawks and Kozy's as well which I haven't tried, yet!
Also hear lots of raves about the Ergo which is more of a structured type carrier.

Love, love love my patapum. I also love my babyhawk for different reasons. I like the bh for the fashion and front carries, but couldn't really get it comfy for back carries. Patapum ROCKS for back carries. Dh and I carried dd all over NYC on vacation and she's 20lbs. Never a problem, but it doesn't really fold very well.
