LLL ?s
I tried to go to the LLL website, but it is very confusing, and a lot of their links don't work. So I thought maybe someone here can help. I am not preggers but we are going to start TTC very soon, and I want to BF this baby. How do I find the group in my area? Does it cost anything? I am probably going to need a lot of help, bcs the LCs at my hospital aren't very good. 9they told me the last 2 babes were latching properly even though I was bleeding like a stuck pig, and offered me no further assistance other than "stick it out" which I just couldn't do) so are there people there who can actually help me? I want to start learning all I can before baby gets here in order to be prepared and ready for anything that might come so I can be successful this time!:goodvibes:

Ohhh, I hope everything turns out well with the LLL. We apparently had one in our city a couple years ago, but it's gone now. The hospital I delivered at started it's own support group, though. Good thing - it was desperately needed!!!

Re: LLL ?s
Even if you're not pregnant now, start attending meetings to absorb what other moms are dealing with, make friends, let your kids make friends and share your story so that the leaders and others (like me) who've experienced the pain/mental wear-down of cracked/bleeding nipples can ask you about when things began to go wrong- how to keep from going down that path again. Even if the closest group is an hour away, I'd recommend going periodically now and throughout the pregnancy. I'm always amazed at our local LLL meetings at how moms who had difficult or non-existent breastfeeding experiences are surprised by their welcome into the group. Plus, its just a help to hear from other moms who are gently parenting siblings through hormonal pregnancies, household running, nutrition, etc. I'm fortunate that our group has an on-line chat for the month-long between the meeting time. I hope you'll find a group nearby and find some new friends there. Emily

Re: LLL ?s
You are so smart to seek out a LLL now. I waited so long to go to my first meeting and I was so happy I finally went. The support is great and to be with women who get "it" is wonderful. Good luck!

Re: LLL ?s
I went when I was pregnant with my twins, and LLL is the ONLY reason I was able to nurse them! Those mamas were so helpful and friendly and kind to me!

You can do it!

Re: LLL ?s
Here is another way to find a lactation consultant in your area. You may have to pay for their services, I don't know but worth checking into if there isn't a LLL in your area. This is the International lactation Consultants Association. Their site has a way to find a local LC. Good luck
