Washing new PFs?

The PF package I ordered arrived today! I'm happy b/c now I have the workhorse part of my NB stash. :yay:

My question is this though, I would prefer to not waste too much water running them through the washer several times. How long and how many times would I need to boil them to fluff them up? Do I boil them in just water? Or do I add anything like vinegar/baking soda? They're unbleached CPF if that makes a difference.

CDing isn't entirely new to me, but prepping the PFs is since my mom used a diaper service w/my sister.

Thanks for your help, ladies!!

I'm not sure about boiling, but I thought that only had to be done once. One way to cut down on the water, though, is to just throw a few in each time you're doing a regular load. Since they're not used yet, makes no difference if they share a load with other clothes.

I have no idea about the boiling, either. I suspect you could just boil for 30 minutes or so and get the better part of the job done. I wouldn't add anything to the water like baking soda or vinegar.

You can skip the extra rinses and just wash on hot a few times to cut down on water use. Just don't use much detergent.
