Swollen Bug Bites...Should I take Nikolas to the DR? Pics ADDED.

Nikolas got 3 bug bites Thursday night and today (Monday) they became wuite swollen, red, and have some pus.

I am going to upload pics...What do you think? Do you think I should take him in? I put cortizone on them, is there anything else I should be doing???

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh, I feel so helpless.

The blue marks are pen where I marked to be sure they were not getting larger.
There is 1 on his hand, 1 on his arm, and 1 on his leg.
They are all about the size of a dime.

Sorry the pics are so big, I'm too tired to resize.

Oh Shannon! Those look terrible. I would definitely take him in. Do you know what bit him? Is he acting like they're bothering him?

They do look horrible. They look worse in the pics but they are bad.

I *think* he got bit by a spider.

He has NO other signs of infection, allergies...except the swelling.

Yes, I'd take him to the doc. Those look bad.

Should I take him in tonight? We are out of state and I would have to take him to tthe ER for sure.

The wait is ridiculous (we were just there on Saturday for my husband and the wait was 4 hours).

Do you think I can wait til morning? If not, I'm off to the ER.

I dunno. If he's acting himself I think it would be okay to wait until the morning but I dunno. It depends on how you're feeling about it. Is he able to sleep close to you so you can watch him through the night if you're feeling worried about it? If he can I would just take him first thing in the morning if it were me. :hugs:

If you think it was a spider bite, I'd take him asap. Not to freak you out, but some spider bites can cause necrosis. The sooner you get it treated the better off he'll be.

If he's not acting like they're bothering him much, I wouldn't bother with the doc. They can't do anything else that you're not already doing, other than take your money and time. If you need the peace of mind of knowing that a doc thinks it is a spider or mosquito bite, then take him in. Otherwise, I wouldn't do it. DS swells terribly for a couple of days if a mosquito gets ahold of him, and everyone's always asking if we went to the doc, but it's not worth it. I've even been for spider bites, and unless it's something severe like a brown recluse (you'd know by now if it was), again there's little they can do. If you're truly worried, call the nurse on call to get some advice before rushing to the doc.:2cents: GL, I know it's so sad to see such yucky, painful looking bites on your baby.:hugs:

He is acting himself. I guess if I felt really frightened I'd already be there.

He'll be sleeping in the same bad as me so I can watch him.

Thanks Emily. :hugs: :hugs: :hugs:

I'm so overtired this week and this is just pushing me over the edge. I just want to cry.
