My oldest has ADHD, Tourettes, and OCD..I don't really consider him SN though...he's just him.....he has his quirks.....but he's brilliant and funny and is doing so well. We have him on the "ADHD" diet, and he also takes meds. He is almost 7 and is doing very well now that we know how his brain works, we can work with him instead of against him.If you wanna chat some more give me a holler!

Not an ADHD momma, but was the teacher and struggle with ADHD myself. Diets are more of a help than most people realize. PM me if you want more info.

My oldest son is ADHD and early onset mood disorders. Hearing your 5 year old talk about killing himself and wishing he were never born because life is too hard is heartbreaking.

Our son is ADHD. We have been working on changing his diet. It is hard because he is my stepson and is only with us for a few weeks each year...and mom isn't much help. It is hard to listen to him say he wants to kill himself and his talk about death. We have been seeing a counselor and she has been NO help. She actually told me not to make him eat! He already looks anorexic and the Dr.'s are concerned! My husband is coming home from a deployment so hopefully we can come up with a better plan...it just sucks that we only have about 4 weeks left with him and then all our work goes to waste. For me each day is a battle. I work so hard with him and still feel as though I am not doing enough.

My 7 year old son is ADHD/ODD...We tried for quite awhile to go without meds but it just wasn't enough, it is hard with his ODD to choose your battles because we don't want him to be out of control and think that he can get away with anything but on the other hand, I know that a part of the ODD is that he "can't" control it, and a major part of the ADHD for him is impulsiveness.

I have AIM and MSN messenger if anyone wants to talk, I have a friend in Ohio with a DD with ADHD and it's good to be able to talk to people in real time that know what you're going through.

We have been looking into changing his diet, so I am off to look at those links now...

Is it OK to put your child on this even if he hasn't been diagnosed with ADHD?
We're pretty sure I have it. DS acts a LOT like me most times, too. We both have most of the symptoms. :giggle:
