How do you store your rice
I have a huge bag of rice that ripped. How do you store it?

A big air tight glass container.

Ok, glass, better than plastic. Where do I get one?

Re: How do you store your rice
We get in bulk from the wholesaler and divide it into glass canning jars which we store in the freezer. We once had a batch at the store that we left out and buggies got in it!! :yuck: From then on we bought it from the source and stored it in the freezer. Working great so far!

Whats wrong with plastic containers? I recycle ones that used to contain pretzels or animal crackers. Is is harmful?

Re: How do you store your rice
I store mine in the large size canning jars. That's how I store my beans, sugar, flour, etc. too.
I would recommended freezing for a day though, it kills off any bugs that may be lying dormant in the rice. |

Re: How do you store your rice
My grandmother used to transfer her rice from the sack to a big plastic pail with a tight fitting lid. Hmm, plastic pail with tight-fitting lid... does that remind you of any other use?
... never saw any bugs in the rice, though, and it was very easy to scoop out every day (the scoop stayed in the pail). |
