I got my pump from my cousin and I still changed out everything that could be taken off and replaced. If you can't afford a new one then a used one is better then nothing. As long as you replace all the tubing and stuff then all you're really using that's used in the motor. But be aware that they are only meant for one user so the suction might not be as amazing as a new one... mine works fine though and I got it from my cousin who I'm sure didn't get it new.
