I'm not saying that your child does not have ADHD. I simply believe that it is important to have a full handle on what's going on with your child.
We started the process of diagnosing DS#1 when he was in 2nd grade. It took almost 4 months to get through the testing (into 3rd grade). We tried cognitive behavior therapies first and didn't move on to medications until half way through 4th grade. The first one we tried (Aderall) worked well, but the side effects were horrible. Switched to Straterra which did next to nothing. Now, 1/2 way through 5th grade he is on Concerta and it works very well with few side effects. Combined with behavior modification, he is doing beautifully in school.
