I also prefer a one-piece diapering system when out and about. I use pockets but it sounds like those don't work so well.

I have heard the new OS Fuzzibunz Elites size down small and work well, you might give one of those a try. Or how about a Softbums Echo (more narrow) shell and a stay-dry pod that was snapped in ready to use?
