I never have wicking with my diapers and they are both prints and solids? So I would say NO, you don't have to put up with it.

To me, it sounds like you have a heavy wetter. Maybe she is wetting the diaper so forcefully that it doesn't have time to absorb everything and it is running out of the sides. I don't think your diapers are wicking, I think they are leaking. Wicking is when the fleece pulls the wettness onto the pul and the pul slowing absorbs it.

If I had to put up with it, I honestly wouldn't cd and dh wouldn't let me. It has to be just as easy as a sposie in my house. Both in going on and in the durations between changes-usually 3-5 hours. If you want to make your diapers work better for you, I would try the extra microterry cloths, folded into thirds, and not against baby's skin. If that is too bulky, you might want to sell them and try a different kind or brand of diaper.

I hope you find something that works, you shouldn't have to change wet diapers and wet clothes.
