I personally wouldn't do it. I had two first names, one my mom liked and one my dad liked. I was called one when I was with her and the other when I was with him. As a kid I was annoyed. Teachers never knew what to do with all my names (I also had a long middle name that is often mistaken for two names and two last names) When I got married I shortened my name down to three names. It's not really the same issue but I could see how it might be an issue for him.
