I don't anymore. But, when she was young I did. I couldn't even watch or donate money to the St Jude's telethon because I was terrified i'd one day BE one of those moms on the telethon. The mom who knows all the nurses by name.

My daughter was hospitalized occasionally for health problems. Twice in ICU. I was so afraid that instead of three days, it would be my new life all the time, every day. I would stand in the doorway of her room, and watch the hustle in the hallways, and tried to imagine doing this every day, for years.

I always thought "Why NOT me... why only other people... it can happen to us too".

I'm over it now, but it took about 15 years.
