Not sure about where you are but here we do. It's not about what you do or don't have to disclose. You disclose anything and everything in the Interest of your client.
A realtor is supposed to be the expert working solely in the best interests of their client above any financial gain of their own in a perfect world.
I would assume he was defensive because he knows they are in the wrong.
Please make sure you file a complaint. That system is what is supposed to keep those things in check
