I can say that I've had 2 vbacs in a hospital and didn't have all the restrictions you're referring to. My doc and I discussed how it would all be handled and it was great. I had a doula there to support me for the first vbac and she was my advocate to ensure my desire for "least medical interventions" possible. I felt relieved knowing I was there in case something happened and needed it. They did an IV port but never put an IV in, they allowed me to have a portable monitor so I could move around, but still keep an eye on my baby.
