My son is from a family with no allergies. He is 3.5 and still on Peptamin Jr. It is a hypoallergenic formula for older kids. He was on Elecare til 3 and is tube fed. His formula is about $3500 a month, but Medicaid covers it. He was adopted from foster care, so he has no copay for us.
Allergies are a crap shot. I would ask for a referral to an allergist. WIC in Indiana usually covers 9 cans of Elecare a month for kids 0-4 months, 10 cans for 4-6 months, and 7 cans for kids 6-12 months. You would need to get private insurance to cover the rest if they will, or look on eBay to see if you can get it cheaper. Some private insurances will cover it if you can document a reason for it.
What kind of allergy testing did you do? Blood or skin?
